For years, DIGIOP-powered video management systems have been successfully deployed in demanding environments around the world, and consistently receive praise for reliability and ease of use and administration.
VCA is built upon a self-learning algorithm which continually and automatically adapts to the changing environment, meaning that it is ideal for both experienced and untrained personnel to use.
VCA is 'plug-and-play' and is ready to use straight out of the box. Specific configuration requirements can be made via easy-to–use graphical controls through a web browser interface with no special software required.
DIGIOP Black IP cameras and encoders come pre-installed with Video Content Analysis (VCA). VCA provides a highly reliable and accurate tracking engine with intelligent detection filters that automate the monitoring and analysis of CCTV images, improving the efficiency of your security staff and allowing you to cost-effectively capture statistics about customer behavior.
VCA is designed to operate with both indoor and outdoor cameras, in a wide range of surveillance situations involving people, vehicles, and other objects. These include intrusion detection, vehicle monitoring, abandoned object detection, people counting and loitering detection. VCA can even detect camera tampering and failure.
The DIGIOP Black VCA solution is high-performance, affordable, scalable and integrates seamlessly with DIGIOP ELEMENTS™ and your current infrastructure.
Three VCA packages are available to meet the needs of specific environments. These are:
DIGIOP Black IP cameras come with the core VCA solution - VCA Presence - enabled and can be upgraded at any time to VCA Access or VCA Pro.

Standard video motion detection is unable to distinguish specific detected motions, meaning that alerts may be raised when a tree is blowing in the wind, rather than when a person is moving.
VCA eliminates these limitations, making it ideal for preventing unauthorized out-of-hours access to monitored areas. Direction of movement can be defined so that the system only generates triggers when individuals move in a particular direction across a zone, or only when they move into the zone but not when they leave it. The system can alert operators when someone is loitering near the perimeter or approaching entrance gates after-hours.
VCA is equally useful in maintaining building security. A VCA-enabled device acts as a presence sensor, alerting security immediately when a moving object is detected in the area covered by the camera.

VCA makes it easier to enforce parking and traffic regulations, saving valuable staff time and avoiding disruption or dangerous situations due to speeding or illegal parking.
No parking zones may easily be marked out in the camera images, causing the operator to be alerted whenever a vehicle has stopped in this area for longer than a defined period. This technology can support the enforcement of parking regulations such as no parking zones, drop-off zones, pedestrian crossings and bus lanes.
One-way systems can be monitored for 'wrong way' traffic and security staff alerted immediately if a vehicle is reversing or driving the wrong way. Additionally, a speed limit can be set and alarms sent when a vehicle breaks this limit.
Vehicles can also be counted, allowing the monitoring of traffic levels throughout the day. This could be used to measure usage of a car park or number of customers visiting a drive-through business, or used in conjunction with speed measurements to measure traffic bottlenecks.

Effective and rapid detection of abandoned objects is important not only to prevent attacks on landmarks, public transportation and critical assets, but also for ensuring health and safety in the workplace. VCA answers this need by quickly drawing camera operators' attention to new items that have appeared in the scene.
In railway stations, airports and other public spaces, it can be very difficult for camera operators to quickly spot items that have been left behind. VCA can be configured to generate an alert highlighting an abandoned object, allowing a compatible video management system such as DIGIOP Elements to immediately show footage of when the item appeared, allowing the owner to be identified and correct action to be taken.
VCA can also be used to ensure that health and safety regulations are met in the workplace, preventing dangerous situations before they occur. For example, the operator can be alerted when a fire escape route is obstructed, or when an item is left in a gangway, potentially causing a trip hazard.

VCA can automatically collect statistics on customer behavior, enabling the cost-effective capture of valuable statistics to inform business decisions.
Using images from cameras at entry points to the store, VCA can record customer flow during the day with no human intervention. Historical averages of these data can be used to inform staff scheduling or choose best times for promotions.
This information can also be used in real-time, such as immediately reacting to a sudden influx of customers by allocating extra staff to checkouts before the customers come to pay, anticipating and avoiding excessive queues.
VCA also allows cost-effective analysis of customer movement and behavior within the store. For example, the effectiveness of in-store promotions can be measured by counting the number of customers who stop to look at a display or to pick up promotional items.
Integration with EPOS data enables even deeper analysis, such as looking at typical routes through the store for customers who buy particular types of products. This data can be used to inform the placement of in-store promotions targeting these individuals.

Individuals who are simply "hanging around" are often up to no good. VCA can draw operators' attention to this suspicious behavior, enabling more effective monitoring of CCTV images.

Individuals loitering near access doors may be looking to "tailgate" an authorized member of staff in order to gain access to the premises or to a restricted area. VCA can detect this activity and alert the operator when it occurs.
Any CCTV security system is vulnerable to attack or image failure. VCA enables security staff to swiftly pinpoint and address cameras that are no longer providing effective coverage.
Cameras may be vandalized or may be attacked in other ways, to remove security coverage as a prelude to an attack. The view of the camera may be obscured using a plastic bag, the camera lens spray painted or the camera moved from its correct position. All of these attacks can be detected immediately by VCA and an alarm generated.

VCA can be used to identify when an object has been removed from a scene, providing effective protection of high-value items such as works of art, jewelry and expensive electronics or machinery. It may also be used to ensure that health and safety signage or other safety-critical displays are not obscured.

Compared to standard Video Motion Detection, VCA enabled devices are resistant to sources of false alarm due to changing environmental conditions such as illumination, rain, foliage movement and wind-induced camera shake.

VCA-PRO can classify objects for added detection filtering. Zones or detection lines can decipher the object for additional alert filtering such as only alerting on people versus vehicles.
